As you can see from the screenshot above, as most will know Google has a inbuilt calculator so you bung in a sum and it returns the answer. However when you enter a 15 digit number – a 15 digit number it comes back with 0 (As shown above where 999 999 999 999 999 – 999 999 999 999 998 = 0).
Now firstly, this isn’t strictly speaking a Google error (although arguably they probably could fix it) it is infact cause is that the calculator program / operating system rounds the numbers causing the inaccuracy in the calculation.
For die hard geeks/maths nerds who want read more on why this happens you can take a look at an article on Digg.com which goes into this in detail and at time of writing has over 1200 diggs!
P.S Don’t forget to digg this post!
Hello all,
I decided to start this blog because i come across quite alot of silly websites which well… fail.
A lot of the time i do a quick post on my personal/tech blog (http://dansgalaxy.co.uk) and usually it’s youtube!
But now we have this blog to document and laugh when webmaster get it wrong… especially when its sites run by big companies like Google which SHOULDNT be getting it wrong.
So watch this space for site fails, will be putting some up soon and feel free to send your site fails to fail@sitefail.net
Happy Surfin’
Dan
